A man has been charged Thursday in the murder of former IU football player Chris Beaty in Indianapolis during May protests following the death of George Floyd, prosecutors said.
Marcus Anderson, 23, is charged with murder, felony murder, robbery and pointing a firearm for his part in the killing of Beaty and three robberies, the Marion County Prosecutor's Office said.
Beaty, 38, was an IU offensive lineman from 2000-2004. He was known by the nickname of “Mr. Indianapolis.”
Beaty was killed May 30, while walking through an alley near his apartment building.
