Instant Recap: No. 12 IU football takes on No. 16 Wisconsin in Madison

END GAME: IU kneels out the clock. Final score: 14-6 IU. The Hoosiers are 6-1.

:46: Reese Taylor breaks up a fourth down pass to the end zone. Wisconsin turns the ball over on downs.

4:50: IU takes four minutes off the clock before punting back to Wisconsin. Whitehead's punt rolls to Wisconsin's 8-yard line before it is downed.

Tuttle returns to the field as the quarterback.

8:58: Wisconsin is forced to punt and IU gets the ball at its 13. Freshman quarterback Dexter Williams takes the field for the first time after Tuttle headed to the locker room.

13:36: After an overturned targeting call, IU punts. The Hoosiers were hurt by a drop by Miles Marshall, who was wide open in the middle of the field.

Fourth Quarter

Scott rushes for three yards. IU lets the clock run out to end the third quarter.

FIELD GOAL: Wisconsin's kick is good from 28 yards out. The Badgers moved the ball down the field with some hard rushes, converting on third and short multiple times, but the Hoosiers' defense stopped a third down throw in the red zone. IU leads 14-6. :21, 3Q.

7:10: Tuttle fumbles on an attempted sneak and Wisconsin recovers. The Hoosiers turn the ball right back over and the Badgers will start their drive at their own 38.

8:47: Jamar Johnson reads Mertz throw and is right there for an interception, his fourth of the season.

Wisconsin's first two plays on the drive went for 19 and 20 yards.

TOUCHDOWN: Philyor catches a pass from Tuttle for a 7-yard touchdown. IU moved the ball well that drive, including a 35-yard completion to Fryfogle. 14-3 IU. 11:03, 3Q.

15:00: After deferring to start the game, IU receives the kickoff to start the second half. Tuttle and IU take over at the 25.

Third Quarter

End Half: Mertz takes a knee to end the half. IU leads 7-3.

1:20: Tuttle takes a couple hard hits on incomplete passes. IU has to punt, and pins the ball at Wisconsin's one-yard line.

FIELD GOAL: Wisconsin drives the ball 81 yards, but defensive stops in the red zone force a field goal from 29 yards. IU still leads 7-3. 4:03, 2Q.

TOUCHDOWN: Tuttle connects with junior Peyton Hendershot for a one-yard score. IU went 12 plays, 53 yards for a score after the defense forced a fumble. The Hoosiers take a 7-0 lead. 11:03, 2Q.

Second Quarter

END FIRST: Tuttle keeps it for two yards and IU moves the chains, now well in Wisconsin territory.

:40: Sophomore Tiawan Mullen forces a fumble on Mertz with a hard hit on the pass rush. IU takes over at its own 47 after sophomore James Miller recovers the loose ball.

6:09: Tuttle's third down pass to Stevie Scott III is stopped short. IU did get some field position with some first down throws and defensive penalties. Wisconsin gets the ball at the 15-yard line, its worst starting field position so far today.

10:35: Two incompletions for freshman quarterback Graham Mertz on Wisconsin's second drive. No completions yet in this game. IU gets the ball after the punt is downed at the 10.

11:23: IU goes four and out. Sophomore Jack Tuttle throws two incompletions in his first drive as a starter. Wisconsin will take over near midfield.

12:18: Wisconsin runs the ball four consecutive times. Its first pass is incomplete, and Wisconsin punts. IU gets the ball at its 15-yard line.

KICKOFF: Wisconsin returns the ball close to the 40, but the return is called back for holding.

First Quarter

IU wins the coin toss and elects to defer. Wisconsin will get the ball to start the game.
