Bloomington apartment robbed, people inside held at gunpoint

Several people were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday at an apartment on the 3200 block of South Walnut Springs Drive, according to an email from Bloomington Police Department.

Officers responded around 9:35 p.m. after two men entered the apartment with handguns and told everyone inside to lay on the floor and empty their pockets, BPD Capt. Ryan Pedigo said in the email.

Officers located a man who told police his money and car keys were stolen in the incident. He said he believed one person was hit in the head with a gun. Officers interviewed people in the area of the apartment, but Pedigo said they weren’t very cooperative.

The man told police one of the intruders fired their weapon. Pedigo said officers found a bullet hole in a nearby apartment’s exterior wall and damage to another residence on the 3300 block of South Burks Drive. He said no one was shot during the robbery.

The case is still active.
