UPDATED: Theta Chi fraternity rock vandalized with swastika

A rock in front of the Theta Chi fraternity was vandalized with a swastika sign within the last 24 hours, said IU Police Department Deputy Chief Shannon Bunger.

An unknown suspect drew a swastika on the rock with yellow spray paint.

The house director called to report the incident around 4 p.m. Friday, police said.

Bunger said he is unsure if there is surveillance footage of the crime.

This is an ongoing investigation, Bunger said.

UPDATE: The person who painted the swastika was a student, said IU Police Department captain of operations Shannon Bunger, and any possible charges are being sent off to the prosecutor’s office. The office will determine if charges will be pressed.

The student’s name will be sent to and reviewed by the conduct board, and that is where any punishment within IU will be handled.
