Man arrested for shooting at two people outside apartments on South Winslow Court

A 24-year-old Bloomington man was arrested Friday night after allegedly shooting at two people in front of a South Winslow Court apartment.

Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Shane Rasche said a resident called police after seeing the shooting and watching the man walk into the apartment building.

The resident told police the man, believed to be Davon Thomas, shot at a man and woman who then ran off toward a black SUV.

Rasche said the resident and another witness told police they heard the man arguing with someone in the hallway area before the shots were fired.

Thomas told police he had been at the apartment complex visiting his children’s mother when he heard a commotion outside and saw someone else with a gun running away. He denied owning a gun.

Police searched the apartment and found a gun and magazine hidden in the dishwasher. A bullet casing outside matched the ammunition for the gun.

Thomas was sent to jail on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness, criminal mischief and having a handgun without a license.

Police said the two people shot at have not been identified but were seemingly not hit by the bullets.
