IU student arrested for allegedly punching man who owed him $40

A 19-year-old IU student was arrested Sunday for allegedly hitting someone after he said he wouldn’t give him $40.

Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Dana Cole said Kevin Jugovic entered a friend’s apartment around midnight Sunday.

The man owed Jugovic $40, police said. When the man refused, Jugovic grabbed the man's phone, punched him in the face and left the apartment. The man followed Jugovic and gave him $40 cash so he could get his phone back.

Cole said Jugovic had been texting the man before meeting Saturday demanding the money. Police said Jugovic allegedly told the man he would Venmo himself the money, using the man’s finger from his cold body to unlock the phone.

Jugovic entered through the unlocked door of the apartment, but the owner told police Jugovic didn’t have permission to be there. The man had a red mark on his forehead and a bloody nose from the altercation.

Police later met with Jugovic at his home and arrested him on the primary charges of robbery and burglary.
