IU gives opportunity to meet potential candidates for new COAS dean position

IU students will have an opportunity to meet the candidates for the Executive Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences position.

This week, students are able to meet Norma Bouchard, one of the four finalists for the position. Bouchard is the dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at San Diego State University. She received her master’s degree and Ph.D. from IU.

An open forum presentation and Q&A will take place 4 to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 14 in the Whittenberger Auditorium at the Indiana Memorial Union.

There will also be a student lunch and Q&A noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 15 in the University Club in the IMU. Lunch will be provided.

There are also two chances to meet the next candidate, Rick Van Kooten. Van Kooten began his career at IU as assistant professor in 1993. Since then, he has filled multiple administrative and educational positions.

Both opportunities are within the next week.

A student Q&A will be held 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Dogwood Room of the IMU with snacks and coffee provided.

An open forum and general Q&A will take place 4 to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Whittenberger Auditorium in the IMU. A presentation will start at 4 p.m. with a meet and greet afterward. Cookies and coffee will be provided.

The next candidate will be announced soon. People will be able to meet with him or her Feb. 25 and 26. There are four candidates total.
