News-filler

Fire hydrant maintenance will continue through the week of Aug. 27 in various new locations. Residents' water in certain areas may be affected.

According to a press release from City of Bloomington Utilities, crews will perform routine maintenance on fire hydrants within the boundaries of East Second Street, east of State Road 446, East Miller Drive and South Walnut Street during the week. Signage will indicate affected areas on the day the maintenance takes place.

Hydrant maintenance began in July, according to City of Bloomington Utilites' Facebook page.

According to the press release, customers may experience fluctuation in pressure or discoloration of their water during hydrant maintenance. If a customer experiences discolored water, they are advised to run their cold water tap until it clears. They are also advised not to wash clothes or use hot water until the cold water clears.

The hydrant maintenance schedule is subject to change if daily work is not completed as scheduled or weather conflicts occur.
