Dozens of minors have been arrested on misdemeanor charges in the past three weeks after state excise police cracked down on the use of false identification to enter the Bluebird Nightclub.
Sixty-two minors face a total of 177 charges, according to a media release from Indiana State Excise Police. More than 140 of those charges are related to the use of fake IDs: possession of false ID, misrepresentation of age, misuse of a driver’s license and possession of false government-issued ID.
A handful of those arrested face other charges: 18 for being a minor possessing or consuming alcohol and a dozen for being a minor entering a tavern.
Minors were arrested on three consecutive Wednesdays — March 22, March 29 and April 5 — as they tried to enter the downtown Walnut Street bar and music venue, according to the release. The nightclub cooperated with excise police after citizens complained of minors using fake IDs to enter the club.
