Three arrested in heroin investigation

Police arrested three people Monday night in connection to an ongoing investigation into heroin dealing.

Michael Stewart, 50, of Bloomington, is charged with two counts of heroin dealing. Brian Thacker, 40, of Ellettsville, is charged with three counts of heroin dealing. Courtney Hettle, 40, of Bloomington, is charged with maintaining a common nuisance.

All three were arrested when police executed search warrants at apartments at the 3100 block of South Walnut Street Pike, Bloomington Police Department Capt. Steve Kellams said. Both Stewart and Hettle have home addresses listed at the apartment complex.

Police are investigating possible connections between the alleged dealers and last week’s spike in heroin overdoses, though Kellams said the only connection as of now is that heroin is involved in both instances.

No heroin was seized during the arrests. Other details were not available at press time.
