Kristin Chenoweth covers classics on new album

Kristin Chenoweth brings her Broadway beauty and soulful elegance back to our ears Sept. 22 with “The Art of Elegance.”

The album will feature covers of “Great American Songbook” classics.

We have been given two singles to give us a taste — “Smile” and “The Very Thought of You (feat. Dave Koz).”

In both of these songs, Chenoweth shines through with her youthful voice. Listening to these songs is like a step into the 1940s, when there was a special appreciation for these grandly orchestrated songs.

Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile” is a classic, but Chenoweth brings a fresh take on it. However, in “The Very Thought of You” her voice truly shines through.

In this album, we can expect her distinct vocals to be an instrument of their own based on the way they are exposed in the singles. Nothing is forced, and everything is raw and stripped down.

“The Art of Elegance” is expected to be true to its name.
