A shirtless 16-year-old girl was high on meth as she got into a fight in broad daylight near the McDonald’s on North Walnut Street.
She now faces preliminary charges for intimidation, battery on a police officer, battery on a healthcare provider, public intoxication, resisting law enforcement and two counts of disorderly conduct.
When police arrived shortly after 8:30 a.m. Monday, the girl had just gotten into a scuffle with a man who she said threatened her 17-year-old boyfriend the night before, said Bloomington Police Department Capt. Steve Kellams.
The man involved in the fight had already fled the area by the time officers arrived.
The girl was wearing a bra, short shorts and a sweatshirt wrapped around her waist when officers took her to the BPD station. The Department of Child Services soon arrived to the station and requested to take the girl to the hospital due to her high level of intoxication on meth.
At IU Health Bloomington Hospital, the girl became “irate,” Kellams said, kicking and threatening to kill officers and spitting on hospital staff.
She was then arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center, Kellams said.
The girl claimed she is homeless, originally from Mississippi and has no family in the Bloomington area, Kellams said.
