The Office of the Vice President for International Affairs will continue its O’Meara Lecture Series this fall with Jon Huntsman.
Huntsman is a former U.S. ambassador to China and Singapore, a former governor of Utah and also was a presidential nominee for the Republican party in the 2012 election.
Huntsman will give his lecture at 4 p.m. Sept. 16, in the Whittenberger Auditorium of the Indiana Memorial Union, according to the IU Vice President for International Affairs’ website.
The lecture is titled “U.S.-China: Challenges and Opportunities” and will be live-streamed at broadcast.iu.edu.
Past O’Meara lecturers include Sir Hew Strachan, Lee Feinstein, Richard Lugar and Timothy Roemer, according to the website.
The lecture series was established in 2011 to honor IU’s first Vice President for International Affairs, Patrick O’Meara.
The lectures are intended to bring speakers who address critical topics in international affairs, according to the website.
O’Meara has had several positions at IU such as being a professor of political science, the director of African Studies and the dean of International Programs. According to the website, O’Meara is “IU’s ambassador to the world.”
