Luo will be given the award at a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. April 20 in the President’s Room at the University Club in the Indiana Memorial Union, according to an IU press release. In addition to accepting the award, Luo will give a lecture on ?her work.
Her research focuses on the relationship between lifestyle and environmental factors and cancer risk and prognosis, according to the release. Luo mainly focuses on breast, lung and pancreatic cancer. Additionally, she has been involved with the Women’s Health Initiative since 2005, according to the release.
Luo’s current research focuses on diabetes and cancer incidence and mortality and breast cancer risk in relation to environmental pollutants, according to the release.
“It is my sincere honor to have the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington honor professor Luo for her impressive accomplishments as an Outstanding Early Career Scholar,” said Mohammad Torabi, dean of the SPH and chancellor’s professor. “She represents the best of the best, and her hard work, curiosity and contributions to public health, I’m sure, will continue throughout what promises to be a remarkable career.”
The School of Public Health Committee on Research and Creative Activity administers the award to an early-career faculty member in the SPH who has outstanding contributions to research or creative activity, according to the release.
