The performance is part of the group’s 50th anniversary show, where they perform their earliest hits to celebrate their beginnings. The group started in Hawthorne, Calif., in 1961 and signed a record label with Capitol Records in July 1962.
Shortly after, they released their first album “Surfin’ Safari.” The album was on the top of the Billboard 200 for 37 weeks, which launched the group’s career.
The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and received the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Grammy award.
The Beach Boys hold the record for top-selling American band with albums and singles and have had more Top 40 Billboard hits than any other American group, according to IU Auditorium.
The group also plans to perform songs from their newest album, “That’s Why God Made Radio,” which was released in 2012.
