A driver suffered a seizure Friday afternoon, police said, causing him to lose control of his vehicle, crashing into a tennis court enclosure.
IU Police Department officials on the scene confirmed a male was driving north-bound on Woodlawn Avenue when he experienced a seizure, his SUV swerving off road and into the fence of Woodlawn Tennis Court.
Sam Velazquez, an IU sophomore who witnessed the accident, said he saw the car start rolling slowly off the road before running into the fence.
Velazquez said he saw the driver having a seizure as he lost control of the vehicle.
“We went and made sure he was OK,” Velazquez said.
IU sophomore Shelby LeFevre said she called 911, and sophomores Cody Baker and Mickey Paunwar said they pulled the driver out of the car.
Velazquez said the driver’s mother was in the passenger seat of the vehicle and was able to assist them.
The male was transported to IU Health-Bloomington Hospital with no reported serious injuries. The passenger in the SUV also did not sustain any apparent injuries, according to IUPD.
