Car crashes into Casa Brava

CasaBrava

A white Subaru crashed through the wall and window at Casa Brava at 410 S. College Mall Road on Friday afternoon.

The driver, a 66-year-old woman, was the only person hurt, Bloomington Police Department Capt. Joe Qualters said in an email. She complained of pain in her leg and was taken away by an ambulance, Qualters said.

Qualters said the crash occurred about 2:40 p.m. when the woman was attempting to turn from the area of Panera Bread and Steak 'n Shake to go into Eastland Mall. To avoid an accident with an approaching car, she tried to brake but hit the accelerator instead. She was unable to stop before hitting Casa Brava, Qualters said.

Casa Brava employee Octavio Dimas said he ran into the bar area when he heard the crash. There were people sitting in the booth next to where the car entered the building, but no one was sitting in the destroyed booth, Dimas said. Casa Brava manager Carlos Tenorio said he does not plan to close the restaurant, and the main dining room was not affected.
