The City of Bloomington Fire Department (BFD) announced June 27 its receipt of a “Great Wall of Rescue” from the Monroe County Farm Bureau.
“I would like to thank Farm Bureau for donating the Great Wall to the Bloomington Fire Department,” Fire Chief Roger Kerr said. “The contribution will enhance our rescue capabilities for the entire county.”
The Wall is a lightweight metal panel device designed to aid rescue teams in the event of a silo, grain bin or loose material storage container engulfment emergency. More information on the wall can be found online at www.greatwallofrescue.com.
Multiple members of BFD have received training in this type of emergency, including at this year’s Fire Department Instructor’s Conference in Indianapolis.
The Great Wall of Rescue will be added to the array of rescue tools on board Engine 1, the main toolbox of BFD’s technical rescue program.
