The City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department announced the B-Line Trail pedestrian bridge would be closed on Tuesday for minor repairs.
The bridge structure expands and contracts with various temperature changes, said Dave Williams, Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department operations director. The expansion joints on several parts of the bridge allow for movement, but one expansion has failed.
The B-Line Trail is managed and maintained by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. If weather conditions are suitable for the repair work, the bridge will close for repair at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
In order for this repair to be made, the faulty joint will need to be re-caulked. This process takes approximately 24 hours for the caulk material to cure.
The pedestrian bridge will tentatively re-open Wednesday.
