FROM IDS REPORTS
What will Bloomington look like 25 years from now? The Planning Department is seeking Bloomington residents’ input on the future vision of the city to find out.
The city planning department will facilitate a workshop to gather public opinions regarding ImagineBloomington, the city’s update to the Growth Policies Plan, which was implemented in 2002. The workshop will be from 6 to 7 p.m. May 2 at the Monroe County Public Library in room 1C.
Because the GPP is more than a decade old, the city believes it is time to re-evaluate, according to the ImagineBloomington website.
At the workshop, participants will also have the opportunity to review draft planning goals involving downtown, housing and neighborhoods and land use.
Future workshops will focus on goal development over other specific areas. These will include historic preservation, transportation, environmental protection, sustainability, the economy and community facilities.
According to ImagineBloomington’s vision statement, “Bloomington achieves excellence through collaboration, creativity, cultural vitality, inclusion and sustainability.”
Bloomington residents can also follow ImagineBloominton developments through the website and social media. Comments can be submitted online at bloomington.in.gov/imaginebloomington through an interactive web forum called UserVoice as well as Facebook and Twitter.
