The Monroe Board of Commissioners announced Angie Chalfant will be the new administrator for the board effective Monday.
Chalfant has previous experience as a Deputy Court Administrator with the Monroe County circuit court. According to the news release, Chalfant will bring 17 years of experience to the new position, including recruitment, supervision and project
management.
“My prior position provides me with information pertaining to the budgeting process, management of staff and a basic understanding of county government,” Chalfant said in an email.
Board of Commissioners President Iris Kielsing said in a news release, “Ms. Chalfant brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this vital position.”
Chalfant will work closely with the commissioners in her new role, serving as a liaison to all county departments, elected officials, contractors, media and the public to communicate and coordinate activities and projects.
“This position is a step up for me. I will be directly responsible for the management of staff and ensuring the commissioners have the information that they need to ensure their responsiveness to our community,” Chalfant said in an email.
According to a news release, the administrator is also responsible for coordinating bid lettings and assisting in monitoring the work of county employees under the control of the Board of Commissioners.
Chalfant’s role also includes assisting in county-wide fiscal responsibilities by preparing and submitting the Commissioners’ budgets each year and assisting with additional appropriation requests when needed, according to the news release.
Additionally, Chalfant will represent the Board of Commissioners at meetings and serve as a liaison between the board and the media, according to the news release.
“At this point, my interest is in understanding the budgets associated with the commissioners, becoming acquainted with the various departments and their expressed needs,” Chalfant said in the email. “I’m looking forward to the unknown.”
