Potential sorority members visited each of IU’s Panhellenic Association chapters in two days during the weekend’s 21 Party, which kicked off Saturday and Sunday.
During 21 Party, women interested in entering the greek system had half an hour to talk with current members, learn about the chapter and, in some cases, tour the house.
For freshmen Kirsten Fulton and Ellie Feitl, Alpha Delta Pi was stop No. 17. The two had met with their Rho Gammas, or recruitment counselors, at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, and rounds started at 10 a.m.
“Yesterday was longer,” Fulton said. “There were more houses.”
Fulton said the philanthropy aspect of sorority life drove her to start the recruitment process. She had already made friends through the pre-rush events she attended, she said, which made it tempting to have a preference of one house more than another.
“But I don’t want to go into it with one house in mind,” she added.
Feitl also said she went into recruitment with no specific house in mind but was drawn to the idea of sisterhood.
“I wanted a big school to feel smaller,” she said.
