Rep. Todd Young, R-9th is seeking out his second term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Young also received a master’s degree in business from the University of Chicago and University of London and a law degree from IUPUI.

Young served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, a legislative aide in the U.S. Senate, a management consultant at Crowe Horvath, and an attorney at Tucker & Tucker.

40-year-old Young said he aims to remove barriers to job creation by erasing fears about future interest rates, tax liabilities and health care costs. He plans to do this by getting spending under control, reforming the tax code and reforming health care.

“I support efforts to lower the cost of health care by allowing insurance to be sold across state lines, increasing the use of—and access to—medical savings accounts, enacting medical liability reform to end the practice of “defensive” medicine, and reforming our Medicare program in a way that gives more choices to seniors,” Young said.

In regard to education, Young said he has voted in favor of keeping student loan interest rates low and preserving the maximum Pell Grant award. However, he said he believes states and local school districts should be given more control over their own decisions.

Young said he would aim to reduce the loopholes in the tax code in order to increase revenue, spur economic development, and perhaps even lower rates for everyone.

“I've spent a lot of time listening to those directly affected by my votes and getting input from my constituents,” Young said. “I am well qualified to continue to be the voice in Washington looking out for Hoosier interests.”
