John Crane

Crane

MCCSC School Board, District 2
Structural engineer

Crane is a managing partner in structural engineering firm BFW Crane, Inc. He is a registered professional structural engineer. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1990.

“One of the biggest challenges facing MCCSC (as well as all schools) is the task of balancing the necessary evaluation of faculty, student and administration performance while still addressing the individual needs of students, given the realities of finite funding.

As the results of these decisions greatly affect the community (in both the education of future citizenry and levels of resource allocations), the community must be involved in the process.

My very strong practical problem solving skills would likely be beneficial in determining best solutions; although decisions would be based on input sought from the community. I also feel that my background outside the field of education may bring “fresh” perspectives and ideas (I would be only board member with no career in field of education). It seems that best solutions often come from groups of persons with differing experiences, etc.

I also have personal motivation to improve MCCSC wherever possible; I have a 4 year old son. The future priorities and educational strategies of MCCSC will directly affect my family.
