Providing a variety of social services to homeless or near-homeless veterans, the second annual South Central Indiana VA Stand Down will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 11 at the American Legion Post 18, at 1800 W. Third St.
The event is a one-day opportunity allowing veterans seeking assistance to speak directly to community and governmental organizations, according to a press release.
Provided goods and services will include food, clothing, health screenings, flu shots, haircuts and bus tickets. The event will also provide VA and Social Security benefits counseling and referrals, employment training and substance abuse treatment.
The mission of VA Stand Down is to help homeless and near-homeless veterans regain a sense of stability in their lives, according to the release.
The event is open to all veterans who can provide proof of their veteran status, according to the release.
