Following Saturday night’s fourth-quarter performance against Ball State, IU quarterback Nate Sudfeld was named co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week Monday.
Down 38-25 in the fourth quarter, IU Coach Kevin Wilson called Sudfeld into the game after sophomore quarterback Cameron Coffman left with a hip pointer.
Sudfeld went 13-for-20 passing for 172 yards and two touchdowns including two scoring drives which gave IU a 39-38 lead against the Cardinals late in the game.
Though the Hoosiers lost the game, Sudfeld’s performance was impressive enough to be recognized as the football team’s first weekly conference honor in the 2012 season. He shared the award with Penn State defensive end Deion Barnes.
