‘We can change it’

Hurricane Isaac reached the Gulf Coast on the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

In response, officials of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., bumped convention happenings back a day.

As part of today’s theme, “We can change it,” the following individuals will be key speakers:

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus will call the convention to order at 7 p.m.

A video appearance with Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, will precede remarks by Sen. Mitch McConnel, R-Ky.

After a performance by country musician Beau Davidson and remarks by Iraq veteran Jeanine McDonnel and Para-Olympian Chris Devon Young, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., will speak.

Later in the evening, a video featuring former President George W. Bush will be presented to convention attendees.

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark., will speak after Bush’s video presentation, followed by remarks from former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Republican Paul Ryan, vice presidential candidate, will speak, followed by a video from his family.
