Man hospitalized after robbery

Officers from the Bloomington Police Department were dispatched to IU Health Bloomington Hospital at about 1 a.m. Saturday after hospital staff reported a man had been hospitalized during a robbery.

During an interview with detectives, Sgt. Dana Cole said the 43-year-old male suspect told authorities he and two friends were watching a movie at home on the 700 block of South Walnut Street when the two suspects entered the residence.

The victim reported that the suspects, identified as two black males, demanded money. Cole said the suspects then hit the victim in the head with a piece of wood, which Cole said appeared to be a leg from a piece of furniture.

Cole said the victim did not face serious injury. The case is still under investigation.
