A naked Bloomington man was arrested by the Bloomington Police
Department at approximately 12:54 a.m. Sunday after a woman reported the man was inside her friend’s car.
William Potter, 37, was allegedly trespassing inside a vehicle in the parking lot at Bradford Woods Apartments in the 900 block of East Eminence Way, BPD Sgt. Lucas
Tate said.
When the woman allegedly noticed Potter stark nude inside her friend’s car, she reported he was trying to start the vehicle but did not have the keys.
After the woman called the BPD, Tate said officers responded and found the nude man walking with another man, who was clothed.
When officers approached Potter, Tate said the man allegedly started running to resist arrest.
To subdue Potter, Tate said he was tackled by police.
Tate said Potter became combative after being tackled and tried unsuccessfully to escape again.
Potter, who Tate said was highly intoxicated and exhibited mood swings, was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital and evaluated before being transported to the Monroe County Jail.
The clothed man that police saw walking with Potter does not face any charges.
When police transport a nude individual to the hospital, Tate said the individual is typically given a gown or towel to cover themselves.
Potter is facing preliminary charges of public indecency, public intoxication, resisting arrest and trespassing inside a motor vehicle.
