A man arrested just before 1 a.m. Wednesday must have been hungry.
Sean Nelson, 24, will be charged with battery, attempted robbery and resisting law enforcement after encountering another man, 22, walking on South Park Ridge Road with a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken tucked under one arm.
Lt. Bill Parker of the Bloomington Police Department said police were called in response to a disturbance in the area. When officers arrived, the victim told them he was walking home from a nearby KFC when Nelson allegedly approached him and demanded he give up his chicken.
Parker said the victim told police he refused, and Nelson allegedly attacked him. The victim said Nelson didn’t stop attacking until people who knew Nelson intervened, pulling him off the victim.
Police observed the victim’s injuries, which corroborated the story, Parker said. These included a chipped tooth and marks on his neck, and his clothes were ripped. He was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
