Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele to visit IU today

Michael Steele, the former chairman of the Republican National Committee, will be visiting IU Tuesday as part of Union Board's Debates and Issues series.

"Steele will provide students with accurate insights into the increasingly important political scene and highlight the current state of the GOP in regards to the upcoming elections," UB Debates and Issues Director Eric Farr said in a press release.

Steele was the chairman of the RNC from 2009 to 2011 and was the first African-American chairman of the Republican Party's national committee. He frequently appears as a contributor on major national news programs.

Steele will speak at 8 p.m. in Alumni Hall in the Indiana Memorial Union. The event was organized by Union Board and the IU College Republicans.
