IU Police Department officers were called just after midnight Sunday in response to a man pushing a woman to the ground behind Kilroy’s Bar and Grill on Kirkwood Avenue.
Jeffrey Johnson, 24, allegedly pushed his girlfriend, 20, following an argument. The woman declined medical treatment and did not want to make a police report, IUPD Chief Keith Cash said. Police drove her to a friend’s home.
Police found Johnson near the BP gas station at Third Street and Indiana Avenue. Cash said Johnson tried to run from police and, in the process, tore the
shoulder patch off an officer’s uniform.
IU police arrested Johnson for public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.
