Bloomington police find missing hotel employee

Megan Kinsel, 28, was reported missing at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday by a manager at Courtyard Marriott Bloomington on South College Avenue.

Kinsel, a member of the hotel’s housekeeping staff, was on duty when she disappeared, said Sgt. Steve Kellams of the Bloomington Police Department.

“She was missing, but they’d found her purse, jacket and other personal items,” Kellams said.

Police spent the next 10 hours searching the state for her, Kellams said. Three detectives and a detective supervisor were called in for the search.

During the investigation, they discovered she was from Terre Haute.

Officers also did a room-by-room search at the Marriott, Kellams said.

Police eventually found Kinsel at about 6:30 a.m. Monday at a residence in Brazil, Ind., more than an hour away from Bloomington.

Kellams said Kinsel had been drinking and smoking with a friend.
