President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address was ludicrous, at best.
He began the speech by praising the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, claiming they had made the United States safer and more respected.
I wonder how invading two sovereign states and slaughtering their people made the United States safer.
Of course, Obama made no mention of civilians killed in his wars, a number rapidly approaching one million souls lost.
The sick joke continued when Obama took credit for bringing soldiers home from Afghanistan despite the fact that his administration has more than doubled the number of troops in that war.
Amid his talking points about safety, Obama made no mention of how he has worked to make American citizens less safe by legalizing the indefinite detention of citizens and by executing American citizen Anwar al-Awlaki without giving him a trial.
Obama spewed even more deceit at the American public when discussing the economy. He adopted a harsh tone toward Wall Street, though his administration has prosecuted fewer instances of financial crime than former Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.
He demanded that Congress pass a payroll tax cut without acknowledging that such a cut would help to defund Social Security.
In a masterfully disingenuous move, he demanded that no one making more than $1 million a year pay less than 30 percent in taxes.
This sounds delightfully populist, but there was only the vaguest mention of forcing Wall Street to return the money we poured into its coffers with the bail-out, and no effective plan was provided.
Our president’s speech was entirely laced with deception and made a mockery of the hopes and dreams of Americans.
If you felt inspired by Obama’s speech, it’s time to wake up. He is not your ally.
He is a murderer, a liar and the puppet of the financial class.
