The spring 2012 IDS editor-in-chief was named Friday following the fall meeting of the IU Student Media publications board.
Senior Zach Ammerman from Lebanon, Ind., will serve as the spring editor-in-chief.
Ammerman,
who is a French major, has previously been region editor, opinion
editor and an opinion columnist. This summer, he served as region editor
during the coverage of Lauren Spierer’s disappearance.
The
board, which is made up of professional, student and faculty
representatives, publicly interviews the candidates each semester to
select the next editor.
Ammerman said he hopes to improve different aspects of the paper.
“I’d
like to increase pickups, have bolder designs and bolder stories that
are more interesting,” he said. “I’d like to rework the newsroom to make
it more efficient and increase communication between design and the
newsroom.”
