Tuesday afternoon in the Frangipani Room, President Michael McRobbie stood before a red IU backdrop to deliver his fifth State of the University address.
He covered the issues of declining state funding, rising tuition and student debt, IU’s role in in the life of the state and questions about the basic value of education. He reported that many projects are in the works as well, specifically noting the progress being made on the IU School of Music Studio Building at the corner of Third Street and Jordan Avenue.
McRobbie said that despite the challenges that the university faces, anything can be accomplished through teamwork.
“With all of us working together, we can shape our response to that fundamental question about what it means to be one of the best public universities in the 21st century,” he said.
