Indiana State Excise Police cited 37 people Saturday during tailgating for IU’s football game against South Carolina State.
The offenders were cited on 42 charges and several were jailed, according to a press release.
Excise officers patrolling the tailgate areas around Memorial Stadium issued tickets to 35 people for illegal possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Police arrested two people for public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.
Two adults were ticketed for aiding a minor to possess an alcoholic beverage.
One 18-year-old female was arrested after she was seen publicly urinating. She was told to pull up her shorts, but, according to police, she failed to do so. She was unable to stand up on her own or speak coherently, officers said.
A breath test revealed she had a blood alcohol content of .203. She was arrested for public nudity, resisting law enforcement, illegal consumption and public intoxication.
In addition, an 18-year-old male was arrested for illegal possession when he and his 15-year-old brother had cans of beer. The boy was cited for illegal possession and released to his parents.
“These arrests likely prevented more serious adverse consequences,” State Police Superintendent Matt Strittmatter said.
