West Third Street to be closed for two weeks

West Third Closing

Part of West Third Street, between Landmark Avenue and State Road 37, will be closed next Monday, July 18. The section is expected to be closed until at least July 31.

The City of Bloomington is doing construction on the railroad crossing on this segment of the street and working on ongoing construction.

Local traffic will be able to access the road, but it will be closed to the general public.

Bloomington Transit announced it will be altering the route of its Highland Village Curry Pike route to accommodate the construction.

The bus route will now turn on Landmark Avenue, take Bloomfield Road to State Road 37 and then reconnect with Third Street. A revised map of the route can be found at Bloomington Transit’s website, www.bloomingtontransit.com.

After the construction is completed, West Third Street will have four lanes for vehicles, two bike lanes, new sidewalks and recessed areas for bus stops.
