The IU Board of Trustees approved raising tuition and fees across IU campuses Tuesday. In an effort to help pay for long overdue repairs to campus buildings, the hike is even higher than what the Indiana Commission for Higher Education recommended.
Here’s the breakdown for the 2011-12 school year:
IU-Bloomington
Resident students will see a 3.5 percent rise in tuition and fees, plus an additional temporary fee of $180 for repairs.
Total: A change of $495.96 — a 5.5 percent increase.
Nonresident students will see a 6 percent rise in tuition and fees, plus an additional temporary fee of $180 for repairs.
Total: A change of $1,851 — a 6.7 percent increase.
IUPUI
Resident students will see a 2.5 percent rise in tuition and fees, plus an additional temporary fee of $160 for repairs.
Total: A change of $357.80 — a 4.5 percent increase
Nonresident students will see an 8.3 percent rise in tuition and fees, plus an additional temporary fee of $160 for repairs.
Total: A change of $2,178.50 — an 8.9 percent increase.
Regional campuses
Resident students will see a 2.5 percent rise in tuition and fees, plus an additional temporary fee of $60 for repairs.
Total: A 3.5 percent increase.
