Spierer not directly involved in altercation the night of her disappearance, family offers $100,000 reward

Editor’s Note: Yesterday evening, the Indiana Daily Student posted a story about a possible altercation between Lauren Spierer and acquaintances during the morning hours of her disappearance. We removed the story from the website because of conflicting claims on whether or not it occurred.

Bloomington Police Department Lt. Bill Parker denied repeatedly that missing IU student Lauren Spierer was “directly involved” in any altercation. He did not respond to any questions regarding an altercation that reportedly took place the night that Lauren disappeared. He also refused to comment on whether or not Corey Rossman was involved in an altercation, as some news organizations have reported.

Bloomington Police responded to “a very specific” but anonymous tip regarding Lake Monroe yesterday. Dive teams searched part of the lake yesterday and will return today to finish searching. Several hundred tips have come in so far, Parker said.

Police have more video surveillance that they said they were contemplating releasing to the public. The last time Lauren appeared on video was on her way between the Smallwood Apartment complex and apartments at the corner of 11th and Morton Streets.
