Reid Dallas, a diabetes care specialist for Nordisk Inc. and IU alumnus, announced his candidacy for the District 40 State Senate seat. The seat is currently held by State Senate Minority Leader Vi Simpson, a Democrat.
Dallas, a Republican, said he is focused on issues like private property rights, lower taxes, gasoline and energy costs, job creation and stopping government-run health care, according to a press release.
“In District 40, continued opposition to responsible growth does nothing to promote economic development, create jobs or increase property values,” he said.
Dallas is the precinct township vice-chairman of the Monroe County Republican Party.
He lives in Ellettsville with his wife and two daughters. District 40 includes all of Bloomington and the northern portion of Monroe County.
