Hillel Center creates web page to help fund search for Lauren Spierer

The Helene G. Simon Hillel Center, an on-campus Jewish student center, has created a web page that allows people to send monetary donations to support the search for missing student Lauren Spierer.

“The page is there so money is available for anything we need to help,” executive director Rabbi Sue Silberberg said. “Supplies, equipment, whatever the family needs.”

Silberberg said donations are already coming in, but she has not had time to assess how much money has been raised since the page was created Tuesday.

The Hillel Center has been helping with the search for Lauren since Monday, creating web pages and helping to coordinate search parties several times each day this week.

Silberberg said that if anyone saw Lauren between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Friday June 3 — the morning of her disappearance — they need to call the Bloomington Police Department.

“Even if they didn’t talk to her, they need to call,” Silberberg said. “They might think something they saw is irrelevant, and it could be very relevant. I am begging them to please, please please call. It could be the missing piece that we need.”
