June 2011 is GLBT Awareness Month. But IU has plenty of opportunities to
get involved in the GLBT community year-round, no matter your sexual
orientation. Here’s just a few of them.
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Student Support Services
From its office on Seventh Street, the GLBT SSS offers counseling,
resources and information to GLBT students and allies. It’s a center for
GLBT groups, programs and activities and features a library that houses
over 3,000 books, DVDs and CDs.

OUT
OUT is IU’s official GLBT Student Union and the University’s largest and
oldest GLBT student group. Each year, OUT organizes events from as
small as weekly group movie outings at the Whittenberger Auditorium to
as large as Miss Gay Indiana University, one of the country’s largest
drag competitions.

OUT @ Kelley
Out at Kelley caters to the GLBT community within the Kelley School of
Business, as well as students in the School of Professional and
Environmental Affairs, the Liberal Arts Management Program and the
School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. The group focuses
on networking and addressing student attitudes specifically
in Kelley.

BlaqueOUT
IU’s newest GLBT group, BlaqueOUT, is a reconstitution of an older,
now-defunct GLBT group called Blacks Like Us. The group offers support
for students who are both a minority and a member of the GLBT community,
as well as their friends and family.
Keshet
Sponsored by the Helen G. Simon Hillel Center, Keshet is an organization
for cultural and religious GLBT Jewish students. The organization
offers movie nights, bagel brunches and Queer coffee klastches while
shining a light on Jewish issues in the GLBT community.

NOGLSTP at IU
NOGLSTP stands for the National Organization of Gay and Lesbian
Scientists and Technical Professionals. While the organization focuses
on those in the science and technology fields, it places emphasis on
inclusivity and concerns of discrimination in all forms. NOGLSTP
organizes an empowerment group called Get Real About Discrimination that
meets every Friday in the Persimmon Room in the Indiana Memorial Union.
