The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs has announced the appointment of professor Sara Pryor to the position of associate vice provost for faculty and academic affairs at IU-Bloomington.
Currently, Pryor is a Provost Professor in the geography department, where she conducts research on climate change and atmospheric chemistry. Three of her studies are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, and she is under contract by the International Atomic Energy Agency, which works for the safe, secure and peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology, according to its website.
In her role as associate vice provost, which will begin July 1, Pryor will oversee campus-level promotion reviews and new orientation workshops. She will also be involved in efforts to increase the representation of women and minorities among Bloomington faculty.
“Professor Pryor brings to the position a deep commitment to the academic enterprise at IU Bloomington, extensive knowledge of the campus, and the respect of her colleagues,” Provost and Executive Vice President Karen Hanson said in a press release. “I am delighted that she has agreed to serve as associate vice provost and look forward to working with her on critical issues of faculty development and diversity.”
