Campus Macs corrupted, UITS working to reinstall programs

Classroom Macintosh computers at all IU campuses were corrupted sometime Wednesday night.

As of 3 p.m. Thursday there were still a few machines in the public student labs that were not functional, but University Information Technology Services was working to fix them.

The computers were corrupted because the configuration software on the Macs was corrupted and passed these corrupted files onto the computers, said Julie Wernert, UITS manager of external communications and special events.

“This was the result of the corruption of a database and not a virus,” Wernert said. “It was a simple computer malfunction.”

UITS staff worked overnight until the situation was solved, reinstalling the software individually.
