Red Cross creates emergency shelter at BHSN

Widespread power outages have prompted the creation of an emergency shelter at Bloomington High School North today.

The American Red Cross announced that it will open an emergency shelter for residents who have experienced a loss of power in their homes due to this week’s severe weather.

The Red Cross’ new shelter is inside Bloomington High School North, located at 3901 N. Kinser Pike in Bloomington, Ind. The shelter opened today at 2 p.m.

The Red Cross advised residents planning a visit to the shelter to bring items for their own comfort, including blankets, pillows, sleeping bags and personal care items such as medications, toiletries and toys and games for accompanying children.

For more information about the shelter, call the Red Cross office at 812-332-7292.

Updates will be issued by the Red Cross about any shelter location additions or closings.
