Residential Programs and Services’ Dining Services is conducting a customer satisfaction survey online. Students can rate various dining locations on criteria such as menu options, customer service and cleanliness.
The results from this survey will be available at the end of this semester, and RPS will use the information to make various changes.
Students can still access the survey through Monday at www.nacufscustomersurvey.com and may rate as many dining locations as they wish.
RPS generally receives student feedback in the form of surveys every spring, rating aspects such as food quality or menu selections.
However, this is the first time that customer satisfaction will also be ranked, said Director of RPS Dining Services Sandra Fowler.
“This time we are using a National Association of College and University Food Services food survey because we would like to compare our customer service with other universities,” Fowler said. “We want to reaffirm what we are doing well or not so well and then make changes based on the responses.”
This year, RPS offered an incentive for students to complete the survey early — the first 300 respondents received a free t-shirt or water bottle.
“Responses were much higher than usual,” Fowler said.
Various students seemed to have mixed feelings regarding service in the dining halls.
“I love the food at El Bistro in Read, but the wait staff are very slow,” freshman Liz Pitman said. “It usually takes a while to get my sandwich, and sometimes when I am in a hurry it takes too long to eat there.”
At other dining locations, such as the Wright Food Court, the response is more favorable.
“I tend to eat at the Flamingo Grill a lot because they are really quick and friendly there,” sophomore Jackson Elliot said. “They are really good at serving you and making sure everyone is taken care of.”
Regardless of students’ opinions, Fowler said RPS values the feedback.
“Whether it is positive or negative, any response is valuable,” Fowler said. “If we don’t know about something, then we don’t know how to correct it.”
