BFC discusses construction

The Bloomington Faculty Council met Tuesday for the second time this November to discuss, among several things, IU’s capital projects and faculty council constitution reforms.

Tom Morrison, vice president for capital projects and facilities, reported during the meeting on the current and future capital projects on campus.

“He gave an update about what are the current projects under construction in Bloomington and what are some things coming up,” said President Pro Tempore of the BFC Erika Dowell.

During his update, Morrison discussed pedestrian safety along Jordan Avenue between Third and Seventh streets.

Dowell said the University is discussing adding a median and pedestrian crossings, similar to those near Wells Library.

There was also a short discussion about revisions to the BFC constitution and bylaws regarding the election process for the council president.

“If it gets passed at the next meeting, then it would go out to a vote to the entire faculty because to change the faculty constitution it requires,” she said.
