“Are they smarter than a fifth grader?”

Mayor Mark Kruzan, B97 DJ Pam Thrash, Bluebird bartender Leo Cook and Monroe County Commissioner Iris Kiesling will need to break out their fifth grade textbooks for some serious studying before Thursday.

“Are They Smarter than a Fifth Grader?” will publicly pit these four against 10 fifth graders selected through an essay contest at 7 p.m. Thursday in Bloomington High School South’s auditorium.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and tickets will be sold for $10 per person or $20 for a family of four.

Ticket sales will benefit Martha’s House, Stepping Stones and Mother Hubbard’s
Cupboard.

This event will be in honor of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, which ends Nov. 21.
