On Saturday, Tim Grubb received news no father wants to hear.
He confirmed that detectives from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office told his family a body that had been discovered was indeed his 29-year-old daughter, Crystal Grubb.
Crystal was reported missing by a family member almost two weeks ago. She was last seen in the area of North Business 37 just south of 4-lane SR-37 on Sept. 19, according to the police reports.
Police reports stated Crystal was last seen with a few friends that Saturday evening when she reportedly got mad and walked away from them. Her friends then left without her.
Police conducted searches including one led by police dogs that turned out to be
unsuccessful.
The days leading up to the tragic news brought nothing but agony to the Grubb family.
“We were wondering everyday and every night where she was at,” Tim said. “We had just been worrying about Crystal.”
Crystal was not only a daughter but the mother of two girls, 6-year-old Abby and two-year-old Rose.
“She was a really nice person and a good mother,” Tim said. “She loved and cared about her two kids a lot.”
Now that Crystal’s body has been found, all the family can do is wait until the autopsy results are released in order to confirm the cause of death.
“We’re glad we found her but not in that way,” Tim said. “It’s been pretty rough.”
Tim said if there was someone who hurt Crystal, he hopes that whoever did will be brought to justice.
As of now, Tim confirmed the police have not stated any suspicion regarding the death and will not know until the autopsy results are released.
Tim said the family is currently under financial difficulties and is struggling to find a way to pay for the funeral.
If anyone is interested in providing donations, the family can be reached at 812-345-3932.
As the family grieves, they reflect on the loving daughter and mother Crystal was in life.
“She was just happy, loved her kids, and she enjoyed life,” Tim said.
